Praising SRK is like stating the obvious: Anushka

She was Aditya Chopra’s muse till last week. Today she is one of the most successful debutantes of the year 2008. In her first ever interview to print media, Anushka Sharma, the Tani of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, shares her feelings with HT City.

“Praising SRK is like stating the obvious,” says Anushka over phone from Yash Raj studios in Mumbai. “It has been a roller coaster ride for me. I am yet to feel the success. Right now I am just overwhelmed by the compliments pouring from everywhere,” she says about her newfound stardom.

It was a random audition to begin with. “I was told that the audition is for one of the prominent films under Yash Raj banner. … Later I was told that Adi liked my pictures and wants to meet me.” The journey began. For two weeks she had reading sessions with Adi. “He didn’t give up until he found me morph into Tani. Finally, I was introduced to SRK,” recalls Aunshka.

Interestingly, it is SRK’s off screen persona that has always charmed her. She was blown by, “his way of carrying himself, his way of talking, his mannerism, and his sense of humor.” Her first meeting with Shah Rukh was “ironical.’’ “When I met him, he was the bespectacled Surinder Suri. I couldn’t believe it. I stood frozen.”

What next? “Who is bigger than Shah Rukh? Rab [God] will do His own. Best things in life happen unexpectedly. I am game for everything.”

SawKey, do you have a RNBDJ/SRK phobia? ‘cos for an AK fan, you seem to be spending an awful lot of time at a SRK fansite. :D

Sawkey – We all have different tastes, to each his own. You like Aamir, we prefer SRK. I don’t wish to waste time arguing with someone like you who clearly gets a kick out of such silly debates. Seems like you have nothing better to do & this is possibly the only way you can stir up some excitement in your humdrum existence. If anyone needs to get a life, it’s you!!
