I’m very proud to be an Indian: Shah Rukh Khan

On his return home
When you’re not in the house, you hear too many things; you know they are exaggerated; you tend to get worried. You don’t have to explain why you love your motherland. I’m very proud [to be an Indian] because my dad was a freedom fighter… I don’t have too many principles. I am a good citizen, I pay my taxes. Suddenly, when you are questioned about all this, you get very emotional about it. I have a strange, positive chip on my shoulder.

‘I’m getting more careful about what I say’

Shah Rukh Khan seems to have sorted out things with the Shiv Sena leadership without having to apologise for his remarks backing Pakistani players and asking for their inclusion in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In an exclusive interview with CNN-IBN’s Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, Shah Rukh says he hasn’t changed his view that Pakistani cricketers must get a chance to play in the IPL. And to say that he need not apologise to anybody.
Rajdeep Sardesai: The Shiv Sena has said that they will not disrupt your film My Name Is Khan and you have said that you are ready to have a drink with the Thackerays.
Shah Rukh Khan: I think somewhere having relationships with Uddhavji (Uddhav Thackeray) and Balasaheb, we still have been conversing through TV interviews but I heard one of his where he said there was never an apology demanded. From my point of view there was no reason, just a misinterpretation or maybe they’ve misunderstood what I’ve said.

Shahrukh’s dream project

Shahrukh’s motto in life has always been very simple. He makes films which will entertain people. It has never been deeper than that. Every film is his dream project.
He takes all the film as his first and last film which is very important for him and he has to fulfill the film to its limit.
He just realises his dream and turns it into a project. “Sometimes he wants to do a film for kids, sometimes a film for adults, sometimes a film which is just fun and easy on the head, like ‘Om Shanti Om’.
Recently he has not been keeping well but by March he will be fit to resume his shoot for his home production Ra One. At this point Ra One is his prime target .

Movie Review : My Name is Khan

MY NAME IS KHAN makes two strong statements…

  • The first: B.C. and A.D. are designations used to label years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. There’s a third designation now - 9/11. Post September 11, the world stands divided. Terrorist outfits continue to strike in the name of religion and the common man, not even remotely associated with these groups, is bearing the brunt. The world is not a safe place anymore.
  • The second statement: There’re two sets of people in this world - the good and the bad. No matter how strong the evil forces are, good always triumphs.
